Juniors
NCCS has put together the following timeline to assist students and parents in making good decisions during High School that will make the transition to college easier and less stressful. The following is a guideline to follow for Juniors.
11th Grade
- Choose a rigorous couse load based upon your ability level and future aspirations.
- Continue to focus on maintaining a 3.0 GPA or higher.
- Sign up for community service.
- Get involved in extra-curricular activities.
- Take the PSAT test in October (provided by NCCS).
- Take the PLAN Test in October (provided by NCCS).
- Prepare for and take the ACT and/or SAT.
- Visit colleges that you might be interested in attending.
- Research scholarship opportunities and deadlines.
- Athletes should submit NCAA Clearing House Eligibility forms and transcripts.
- Request at least 3 letters of recommendation. Letters should come from a teacher, coach, counselor, administrator, community leader or pastor.
- Utilize the college and career planning you receive in the classroom - HOPE GPA calculation, scholarship review, website training, etc.
- Attend the PROBE and National College Fairs as they become available.
- Participate in the Christian College Fair visit coordinated by NCCS.
- Be involved and attentive during Career Day.
- Attend the NCAA Clearing House Seminar.
- Attend the Plan, Apply, Pay for College parent and student seminar presented at NCCS by the Georgia Student Finance Commission.
