Visual Arts
Students in lower school and 6th grade receive visual art instruction from Joanie Jones. Ms. Jones enriches students visual art experience through a variety of media and ties in Bible verses to their expression. Ms. Jones' students often take home their work in the form of gifts for parents, grandparents, teachers and friends.
At the Middle School (8th Grade) & Upper School level, Jessica Starnes serves as the visual art instructor. Upper School visual art offers specialized courses in Drawing, Painting, Photography, and Computer Graphics.
The Academy of the Arts offers a Visual Art track, also instructed by Jessica Starnes. This intensive track is specifically designed for those students who wish to know more about visual arts and possibly pursue a career in this field. The Academy of the Arts-Visual Art displays their work every year during the month of February at the Art Station-Big Shanty. The 12th grade Academy Visual Artists participate in Senior Portfolio and Exhibit, a class that prepares them to build a scholarship worth portfolio in the fall and a solo exhibit in the spring.
