6th GRADE VISUAL ART

In His Image

"Make your own attitude that of Christ Jesus, who existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to be used for His own advantage.  Instead He emptied Himself by assuming the form of a slave, taking on the likeness of men."  Philippians 2:5-8

In 6th grade visual art, students will be creating their first art project of the year using the theme "We are created in God's image" taking a look that goes deeper than appearances.  The students will be learning advanced techniques using colored pencils in creating a portrait of their choice.  All the students will be instructed in their techniques by completing the same portrait for practice, then required to apply the learned techniques to creating a portrait of their choice.  We will be integrating God's word, as we look at the importance of developing the character traits reflected in the life of Christ as opposed to the importance the culture places on outward appearance.
